Freedom 46 Update

Sweet Missy in the yard at our vet's office this week.
A note from OBG's President:

Dear Friends,

Today marks two weeks since Team OBG drove down to the hot Virginia barn where 46 dogs were being housed with out proper food, water, exercise and ventilation. It's been an amazing two weeks for OBG and all the dogs. The outpouring of support from around the country and the world has been inspiring. All the dogs have been evaluated and are getting much needed medical attention. I'm very pleased to also tell you several of the Freedom 46 dogs are now in foster homes. Watch our Dogs Available Page and our Facebook page for updates.

Many of you have expressed interest in the Freedom 46 and have asked how you can help with their care. OBG's two primary needs to care for all these dogs are foster homes and donations. If you are interested in fostering for OBG, please contact While more of the Freedom 46 dogs are headed to foster homes in the coming days, there are many more waiting including Sweet Missy. See a link to her story below.

As you know, OBG's Summer Matching Fund Drive is currently underway and if we can raise $33,825, our generous donors will match that to donate a whopping $67,650 to OBG. To date, over $12,000 has been donated! Click here to make a donation today! Donations by mail are also welcome. You can click on the same link for mailing address details.

I also want to highlight our Cocker Angel dog sponsorship program as another wonderful opportunity for YOU to help the Freedom 46! Under this program, you may select one (or more) of the Freedom 46 dogs for whom you will provide financial support for their medical treatment. If you sponsor a dog by paying that dog's medical expenses, we will do our best to arrange for you to meet the dog and send you special updates and photos. If you are interested in learning more about our Cocker Angel sponsorship program and how YOU can become a sponsor, please email

OBG will be releasing information on the various Freedom 46 dogs over the course of the next week, including the seven dogs who are heart worm positive (treatment cost is $1000-$1200 per dog) and the 11 dogs who are visually impaired and need to see a veterinary ophthalmologist. But first I would like to tell you about a very special Freedom 46 dog, Sweet Missy. Please click here to read her story as told by OBG Board Member, Beth B. If you would like to be Sweet Missy's Cocker Angel or foster, please email us.

As always, I want to thank you for being the best supporters any rescue could ever have!

Teresa Butler
OBG President
