The "Be Mine Nine!"

As we told you this morning, OBG rescued 8 cocker spaniels from a rural VA backyard breeder.  We were happily surprised to learn that a 9th cocker spaniel - a young girl aged 2-3 years -- joined the crew arriving to OBG.

The dogs were in worse shape than we could have ever imagined but are TOTAL sweethearts!  Our Vice President for Intake said it was the worst she had seen in her 12 years of rescuing.  It was a heartbreaking and rewarding day for our volunteers and the staff at Crosspointe Animal Hospital in Fairfax Station, VA.  They worked all afternoon and into the evening to get the pups comfortable and assess immediate medical needs.  One poor boy, Kasey, appears to have had a badly matted area of his fur ripped from his skin (possibly the matt got caught on something) and he had an open wound 6 inches by 6 inches.

Here are photos of them upon arrival:

Please welcome these pups into your heart with a donation (click here to donate via the OBG homepage).  We estimate their medical needs could top $20,000!!!  As we assess each dog's individual medical needs, we may establish separate ChipIns.  Watch the blog for more info.

On behalf of the "Be Mine Nine," we thank you for all your support and well wishes!

We also thank our friends at Crosspointe Animal Hospital in Fairfax Station, VA for all their care of the Be Mine Nine!
