#17: Casper

Casper's story is so special. As I am a lover of senior dogs, it just warms my heart to read it!

In April 2011, a spry 14-year-old dog came into our lives. His family was moving into special housing and were told that no pets were allowed. Casper had been with them since 8 weeks old and was a very important member of their family.

When OBG needed a foster for him, I somehow convinced my husband we could have a third dog.

We have 2 senior dogs from OBG and there aren't many words to describe the joy they bring us. Casper was an only dog in his [first] home but fit right in with our dog and cat blended household.

What a cute trio! Belle, Casper & Biscuit.

Fast forward to adoption papers coming in the mail...Casper is now a permanent member of our family and we couldn't be happier!

Casper is the most energetic, happy, fun, sweet dog. Nobody believes he is 14 years old. He loves his squeaky toys and balls the most.

Casper, one of his toys, & his cat friend!

Funnily enough, even though he's the oldest of our senior dog crew, Casper has the best hearing! You'd never know it when he pretends he can't hear me calling him when he sneaks into our neighbors garage and steals plastic bottles from their recycle bin—haha.

He has a bit of an obsession with plastic...oh and anything mint. Once I left my purse out and woke up in the middle of the night to the contents spread out on the bedroom floor. Casper had taken each item out of my bag and placed it on the floor in search of a pack of gum I had in the inside compartment.

Casper gets along with everything and everyone. He especially loves kids and doesn't seem to think of anyone as a stranger.

Even though Casper has a loving home with us, his other family still loves and misses him. We exchange e-mails and photos of Casper and I make sure they know we will always take care of him, and he is a very treasured doggie.

Casper is so loved. What a handsome boy!

Once again Oldies But Goodies has saved a wonderful dog and given us a friend for life.

What a great family! You can read also read the happy ending of Casper's brother, Biscuit, on the Connection!

  1. My 18 year old was like that too--loved plastic bottles & jumped around like a bunny rabbit! Bless everyone who saved this angel!
